Delivery Dancer’s Arc: Inverse - Ayoung Kim | Narrative Resources R&D, a part of AI Image and Video Generation team

Upcoming Event : Ayoung Kim Exhibition, MoMA, New York, USA November 6, 2025—March 16, 2026

  • 2025 LG Guggenheim Award

  • 2024 ACC Future Prize, National Asian Culture Center, Gwangju, Korea

In this exhibition, Kim highlights the numerous traditional calendar and timekeeping practices that have been forgotten or lost due to Western modernization. Although each culture possesses its own unique timekeeping system and calendar, reflecting its history and philosophy, the Gregorian calendar has become the global standard in the modern world.

The standardization of time and calendars is linked to the dynamics of imperialism and political power during modernization and globalization. This work puts forth the traditional cosmologies and time systems of diverse cultures that have gradually vanished due to Western modernization, reflecting her effort to reintroduce them into the narrative of contemporary art.

Climbing Theater

  • May 30—June 1, 2024
       K-Arts, Seoul, Korea

"Those who have experienced betrayal of trust need the strength to see the world upside down."

We are all trapped in a tower—sometimes by blood ties, sometimes by societal structures, and sometimes by our own memories.
The performance explores themes of trust and betrayal, connection and disconnection, roots and existence, inviting the audience to question their own boundaries.

Like Rapunzel, it encourages them to find the courage to climb their own towers.

Impossible Inaudible: 모든 것은 (흔)들린다 | Music, Sound

3 Channel Video Installation Art

  • April 12—May 18, 2024
Kim Hee Soo Art Center, Seoul, Korea

The sound in this work, which explores the connection between waves and sound, is composed of the modulated voice of Lee Piljin, the collaborating scientist for this exhibition.

The physical principle that everything in the universe fundamentally exists as a wave extends beyond the limits of human auditory perception. The sound of matter and the transformed voice create multiple layers, resonating with fundamental questions.

VR Immersive Theater

  • November, 2023
      National Asian Culture Center,
      Gwangju, Korea

  • September, 2023
      Ars Electronica, Linz, Austria
A theatrical experience shaped through the metaverse. Two actors and a live audience collaborate in a shared virtual world, co-creating the performance.

Within the narrative, actors and audience members adopt virtual identities, forming relationships and interacting through sensory experiences impossible in the real world.

This project envisions a new kind of theater experience through the fusion of art and technology.

Audiences awaken as tiny spores of fungi, driven by an instinctive hunger for food, venturing into the unknown.

Just as they reach their final destination, believing they have won the game… they realize they have devoured humanity’s seed vault—the last hope of a species that fled Earth due to climate catastrophe.
